Annual Activities
2814 participates in multiple unique training activities particular to their corps. These training opportunities strengthen the skills of cadets in aspects such as marksmanship, survival and other non-compulsory training aspects.
Please note that these activities are unique to 2814.
Camp YMCA Wanikita
Starting in 2017, 2814 has travelled to Camp Wanikita to complete their compulsory winter survival training. But in addition to the mandatory training, 2814 participates in activities such as snowshoeing, cross country skiing and high ropes.
Mess Dinner
2814 hosts an annual Mess Dinner alongside 713 Thunderbolt Squadron, an air cadet squadron in Hamilton. During the dinner awards are given out to outstanding cadets and special guests make appearances.
C7 SAT Range
Hosted randomly throughout the training year, cadets have to opportunity to partake in simulations. These cadets train in exciting simulations and hone their accuracy, reflexes and quick thinking.
Canoe Trekking
At 2814, cadets have the opportunity to participate in a weekend-long canoe trip. Cadets will learn skills such as canoeing, portaging and rescues.

Past Activities
These training opportunities are no longer in motion, but played a large role in the extra training of 2814.
Wildfire
Up until 2016, 2814 has completed their winter training at Wildfire. Much like Camp Wanikita, the corps participated in activities such as snowshoeing, cross country skiing and high ropes. But they also participated in quincy building, tobaggoning and hiking.
Awards
Challenge Coins
2814 has 2 challenge coins. One coin features the motto “Be Elite”. This coin is the CO’s commendation, given at CO’s Parades as a recognition for exemplary Cadets. (on the right)
The second coin, features the text “Alumni” (on the left) and is the alumni coin, avaiable for purchase. Contact [email protected] for info.
Challenge Coins are given out at the discretion of the Commanding Officer.
Awards
Awards recognize cadets for their outstanding achievements, and unique accomplishments.
Honour Roll Certificate
Awarded to the Cadet in each star level achieving the highest marks in star level testing.

Adventure Training Award
Presented to the most adventurous Cadet as demonstrated during corps exercises, outdoor activities and expedition training courses.

Best Shot Trophy
Presented to the Cadet showing the highest proficiency in first air or dedication to their platoon’s values and esprit de corps.

Joe Chapman Memorial Front Line Musketry Award
In recognition of the most improved riffle shot over the course of the training year

The Spoon Award
Awarded to the junior Cadet (Cadet - Master Corporal) who is voted by their fellow cadets as being the cadet who best displays the qualities of an army cadet; Leadership, Citizenship, Physical Fitness and an Interest in the Canadian Forces.

Advanced Leadership Training and Management Award (ALTMA)
Awarded to the senior Cadet who achieves the highest standings on the corps NCO Leadership Training Course. Years the course is not run it is awarded to the cadet that demonstrates a high level of leadership, instructional ability, and management of personnel and equipment in their position in the unit.

LCol Peter May Junior Leadership Award
Presented to the junior Cadet who demonstrated an above average level of leadership, and initiative in local training during the year.

Dayman - Armstrong - Richardson Airborne Award
Awarded to (a) cadets who by their level of fitness qualify for the Airborne pre-course; (b) cadets who achieve the level of excellence in the Army Cadet Fitness Test. There can be multiple award recipients.

Best Medical Cadet Award
Awarded to the cadet showing the highest proficiency in first aid or dedication to their platoon’s values and esprit de corps.
